This urban nature reserve has something to offer everyone and will appeal to families, walkers, birdwatchers and photographers. It is a great place to relax and wind down, listen to birdsong, see flocks of wild ducks and enjoy views of lakes, meadows and marshes.
The reserve is a wildlife haven situated in the Lea Valley, one of Britain's largest wetlands. Stretching from near Luton to the River Thames, the Lea Valley is over 50km long and includes lakes, waterways, green open spaces and areas of woodland. The RSPB Rye Meads Visitor Centre is close to North London, and just a few miles from the M25, and offers close-up views of wetland birds from the hides and trails, whatever the time of year.
There is an extensive events programme throughout the year, but you can visit the visitor centre and reserve free of charge every day.
