Glasgow's most celebrated architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928) designed Scotland Street School between 1903 and 1906 for the School Board of Glasgow. The museum now tells the story of education in Scotland from 1872 to the late 20th century.
At Scotland Street School you can travel back in time to the reign of Queen Victoria, the Second World War or the 1950s and 60s in the reconstructed classrooms. You can follow the interpretation and activities trail or search for your great-granny's old school photograph and try out your design skills. You can learn about Mackintosh's design for this building.
