Here the views of the mountains and valleys are beautiful. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding hills, the sound of the stream running through the garden and the expanse of the sky which, on a cloudless night can reveal a million stars.
Berthlas Farmhouse is situated near the village of Trefeglwys and set in a sheltered dip up in the Montgomeryshire hills in the heart of Mid Wales.
There are a number of half timbered Tudor houses in our community, some of which are important listed buildings. Berthlas Farm House is one of them and is a fine example of a timber-framed farmhouse, circa 17th century.
Berthlas is under three miles from the village and in 1797 a Sunday school was held here. In 1803 a free school was established making Berthlas the real beginning of schooling in this part of the community.
The old market-town of Llanidloes is 8 miles away - market day is Saturday.
Our accommodation offers:
Two interconnecting rooms, one double and one twin-bedded. Combined, they can provide for a family or group. We also provide a cot.
Please note we take just one booking at a time therefore you will be the sole guests.
Due to the listing criteria and age of this unique building we do not have en suite bathrooms. There is a separate bathroom solely for guests' use.
There is also a lounge with a wood burning stove for guests' use. Wireless internet access is available.
We provide vegetarian/vegan breakfast and evening meals using whole-food, organic and fair-trade produce wherever possible.
We share our house and gardens with our dog and two cats,Timmy and Maxi.
We can also provide security for bike storage. The area is ideal for walkers and cyclists.
Conditions of Booking
We ask that you send a cheque for the entire time of your stay which will be cashed if you cancel less than a week prior to anticipated arrival. On your arrival we can then accept your cheque or return it to you and accept cash.

Double Room: £60.00 per night. Twin bedded room: £25.00 per person per night. Children 12 years and under: £15.00 per night. There is no charge for babies under 1 year old. Supper Available for £19.50. From late March onwards. |
