Hidden in the beautiful Vale of Kerry lies The Forest; a splendid Victorian country house B&B with self catering cottages set in 4 acres of attractive gardens and paddocks.

The tranquil setting makes it the perfect place in which to relax and an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions of Mid Wales including Powis Castle National Trust.

Less than a mile away is Kerry village, which has a pub restaurant and it is a 5 minute drive from Newtown; on the border of Powys and Shropshire, The Forest is an ideal hideaway for a relaxing break away from the rush and bustle.

The Forest offers 5 star luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in 5 charming en-suite double rooms, one with a four-poster bed.

All rooms are furnished to a very high standard with keen attention to detail and have views over the gardens; the furnishings and decoration of each room are different, but all share a style which respects the original Victorian architecture.

Children of all ages are welcome and there is an outside play area, toy boxes and DVDs; there is a tennis court, games room with pool and table football.

If you wish to bring dogs or horses then we have kennels and stables available in adjacent outbuildings.

The gardens which everyone is welcome to enjoy, were laid out over many decades by gardeners with a real passion for planting; there are ancient yew trees, colourful azaleas and rhododendrons, rare acers and a wonderful magnolia.

We strive to offer the highest quality bed and breakfast accommodation for walkers, riders, cyclists, business people, families and holiday makers, looking for a secluded and tranquil location from which to explore the area of The Marches.

There is a lot to see and do in this beautiful area including walking, cycling, golf, horse riding, castles to explore and pretty villages and towns.

The Forest's central location and good road links makes it an ideal base with easy driving to Welshpool, Shrewsbury, Chester, Ludlow Machynlleth and Builth Wells.

Slightly further away are the beautiful Brecon Beacons, the breathtaking Snowdonia and the beaches of Cardigan Bay.

    Directions
    Directions from Newtown:
Take the A489 (Kerry Rd at McDonald's roundabout) for 3 miles and just before you enter Kerry, take the right turning sign posted "The Forest" into Gilfach Lane.
Follow the narrow winding lane for approximately 3/4 of a mile, ignoring the Sat Nav if you have one.
You will pass a left fork and later a right fork after the bungalow; do not take either, stay on the lane.
The entrance to The Forest has black metal gates and is on the left, just past the brook.
