This pretty thatched cottage is beautifully situated in the grounds of Great East Standen Manor in wonderful countryside designated as 'An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
Horses are kept in the 60 acres of grounds and the peacefulness of the surroundings encourages a variety of wild life including buzzards, owls, red squirrels, and badgers.
Visitors are welcome to stroll across the fields and there is a lovely lake where the ducks can be fed and herons can sometimes be seen.
This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading to the nearby St. George's Down, Arreton Downs and the village of Arreton, which is only half a mile away.
Arreton is known for its historic manor house and gardens which are open to the public and the popular Arreton Barns craft village.
There is a public house which is good for meals and a village shop. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are less than a 15 minute drive away from the cottage and within a 7 minute drive is the market town of Newport with its shops, restaurants, plus the medieval castle of Carisbrooke.
This beautiful detached cottage is built of Island stone and brick. It dates back to 1300. It has recently been renovated with the greatest care to retain its character and charm. The success of this achievement has been confirmed by the cottage being awarded first place in the 'Island Conservation Award' for 2006. The cottage has been furnished and equipped to a high standard and provides very attractive and comfortable accommodation for 4 people.
On the ground floor the layout is open plan with wonderful terracotta tiles and has a lovely light and spacious feel. There is an attractive high quality modern fitted kitchen equipped with hard wood worktops, an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with small freezer section and a washer dryer; a very pleasant dining area where meals can be enjoyed; comfortable sofas with a television/video and DVD player.

There is one twin bedroom and a spacious double room with views across the fields and a modern en-suite shower room with a large power shower, W.C. and basin. There is also a separate bathroom with a lovely Victorian bath with claw feet, basin and W.C.
