Luxury period property. Built in the time of Edward I, this Grade II* medieval hideaway boasts seven hundred years of history. It now serves as an atmospheric base for exploring the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean.

Extensively refurbished in 2008, the Gatehouse offers a charming loft-style living area within its ancient structure, retaining the beams, thick walls, and stone mullion windows. A deep leather sofa, wood burning stove and delightful sleeping space, all add to a uniquely romantic experience. You can even climb up to the top of the tower, to the viewing platform!

Local attractions include Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Racecourse and golf venues. The Gatehouse is only forty minutes from Bristol, Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons.

Please note, this ancient building's charm includes a steep spiral staircase. Access to the bedroom is via a companionway ladder, and requires you to duck underneath a beam.

The property boasts a modern 'wet room' with shower, a fully fitted kitchen with oven and hob, fridge and small freezer. Downstairs there is a washing machine and tumble dryer if you need it.

Heating is provided by night storage heaters and the wood burning stove.

The property is self contained, and has its own entrance. The owners live at the other end of the garden in a sixteenth century Monmouthshire gentry house.
