Lewis is an island of outstanding natural beauty, with its dramatic coastline and beautiful beaches. Many visitors come to the Isle of Lewis to see the Callanish Standing Stones, dating back 4000 years.
However the island is also perfect for walking, cycling, surfing, fishing and bird watching. There are several stunning sandy beaches within a 15 minute drive, one of which also has a fabulous children's play park in the dunes.
For those who enjoy wildlife, you may be lucky enough to see seals, dolphins and otters. Eagles have also been known to make regular visits.
There are numerous coach trips in Lewis, or you can explore the island yourself.
Stornoway is certainly well worth a visit, the capital of the Western Isles. Here you will find tennis courts, a golf course, restaurants, shops, a museum, a castle, supermarkets and a leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and gym.
There is a regular bus service from the end of the road which runs six days a week.
