Demeter Cottage is a traditional fisherman's cottage, tucked away from the bustle of cobbled Church Street, in the old part of Whitby, on the East cliff. It is only accessible by steps, making it a peaceful retreat, only a minute away from shops, restaurants and bars, and from the beach and harbour. You can book the cottage for short breaks as well as for full weeks.

Demeter Cottage has 3 floors, consisting of 2 bedrooms, bathroom, sitting room and kitchen. It sleeps 4 people comfortably ( 6 using the sofa bed). It is furnished to a high standard using a mix of contemporary and antique furniture. It has a king sized bed in the top bedroom, and twin single beds in the second bedroom. The cottage is very warm and cosy, so is suitable for winter breaks, as it has gas central heating and a 'living flame' gas fire in the sitting room.

The kitchen is well equipped and has a microwave, cooker and washer. The bathroom has a bath and a power shower. The sitting room contains a flatscreen TV with Freeview, and there is also a flatscreen TV with Freeview in the master bedroom. In the sitting room is a collection of DVD's and books , including those of local interest.There are sea views from the top bedroom, while some other rooms have views over the rooftops of Whitby.

Sorry, the cottage is not suitable for those with mobility problems; pets; smokers . Although we do not have baby equipment in the cottage, you are very welcome to bring your own.
The cottage is in the heart of Whitby, within easy walking distance of all amenities . Whitby has a great variety of excellent restaurants, shops and bars. The Yorkshire Moors are a short drive away, with its North Yorks Railway and superb walking country.
