Things to do in Hunstanton, Norfolk
Hunstanton's clean and safe beach is ideal for family holidays, and a short walk northwards along the shore brings visitors to the town's famous striped cliffs at Old Hunstanton.
Eroded by the sea, the cliffs now reveal multi-coloured layers of rock, white chalk, red chalk and brown sand stone (carrstone).
Golden Sand and Sunsets
As the only west-facing resort on the east coast of Britain 'Sunny Hunny' basks in sunshine long after the bustle on the prom has quietened down.
Long balmy summer evenings lend a romantic atmosphere to this otherwise lively resort, and the beach, gardens and cliff top provide a backdrop for some truly spectacular sunsets.
Built mostly from warm Norfolk carrstone, Hunstanton is an attractive Victorian town with a friendly holiday atmosphere. It is clean, tidy and welcoming - winning Seaside Awards for cleanliness and amenities, for the past seven years.
It offers plenty for those who prefer a more relaxed holiday, with bowls, concerts and the pretty Esplanade Gardens overlooking the sea.
The town centre and seafront are both easily accessible to disabled visitors. New to Hunstanton is a specially designed 'Sensory Garden', with opportunities to touch, hear and smell the plants and sculptures.
The beach consists mostly of pebbles and shingle when the tide is in, but when the tide goes out loads of golden sand is revealed.

The Alive Oasis Leisure Centre, with its well-equipped fitness suite, has a tropically heated pool with aqua-slide, giant inflatables, floats and jacuzzi, and it also offers roller skating, bowls and squash, and a soft play area for toddlers.
In summer a colourful tractor Train carries visitors the length of the seafront, a favourite with all ages.
There's a fun fair and amusement arcade on the Hunstanton seafront to keep the kids busy.
The whole family will enjoy the Sea Life Sanctuary, where diver's eye viewing tanks, a touch pool and an underwater tunnel bring visitors face to face with an amazing collection of sea creatures, and there are regular talks and feeding displays at the seal hospital.
