Pencarrow |
Pencarrow is a private house still owned and lived in by the Molesworth-St.Aubyn family. The present house was built during the 1760's.
The house has a very fine collection of pictures, furniture, porcelain and antique dolls. The rooms offer a superb insight into the life of a Georgian country house, which is not a museum but a family home with everyday activities, people and dogs.
The gardens were designed in 1831 and include a beautiful sunken Italian garden, Victorian rockery, lake and mile-long drive through giant rhododendrons, camellias, blue hydrangeas and internationally known specimen trees.
There is also a children's play area with a Cornish slate Wendy House. Peacocks, bantams, doves and guinea fowl roam freely.
