Explore the City on a Neuron E-Scooter

Electric scooters are being trialled in several cities in the UK, and now adults can try one out in Sunderland.

Neuron has 300 e-scooters available to hire, and they're a fun and sustainable way to get out and about and explore the city.

You'll need to be over 18 and have a full or provisional driving licence to hire a Neuron e-scooter.

Hire costs £1 to unlock the scooter and 20 pence per minute.

If you've always fancied learning to draw, but never got around to it, the Drink and Draw Life Drawing sessions at Arts Centre Washington are ideal for you.

Drink and Draw is a sketching social with a life model, where you can learn tips and techniques for life drawing, and relax and enjoy a drink at the same time.

Hands-on Workshops at The National Glass Centre

Sunderland is world famous for its glass industry, so it's fitting that it's home to the National Glass Centre.

The museum is home to a fascinating and beautiful collection of glass objects, but you don't have to just look at the glassware, they also offer lots of opportunities to get hands-on and have a go yourself.

The classes and workshops change regularly so there's always something new to try.

Just a few examples of what's available include: Stained Glass Leaded Technique for Beginners, Introduction to Ceramics - Throwing, Make your own Flameworked Beads, Introducing Fused Glass or a Glass Tableware Taster Session.

Go to a Gig at The Fire Station

The Fire Station is a live music and performance venue with a great selection of musical events of all genres as well as theatre and comedy performances.

Whether you love dance, enjoy going to see a play, are devoted to jazz or just love rock bands, there's plenty at The Fire Station for you to enjoy.

Within The Fire Station, you'll find The Engine Room which offers great quality food made with fresh locally-sourced ingredients.

Try Skiing at Silksworth Sports Complex

With two dedicated nursery slopes and a main slope which is 160m long, Silksworth can rightly claim to be the North East's premier ski facility.

Silksworth also has a team of highly qualified instructors, so lessons are available for skiers of all abilities, from first-timers to experts. Snowboarders are also welcome.

If skiing's not your thing, there's an athletics track where you can book individual lanes, and football pitches available for 6 or 11-a-side games.

Climb Souter Lighthouse and Enjoy the View

Souter Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse which offers wonderful views of the rugged Whitburn Coastal Park.

Whitburn Coastal Park is a nature reserve with a network of coastal paths to explore and designated wildlife viewing areas.

Built in 1871, Souter was the first lighthouse which was designed to use electric light, and today it contains interesting displays about its history.

Souter Lighthouse overlooks The Leas - two and a half miles of grassland and wildflower meadows.

The Lighthouse Café offers snacks, light meals and drinks with indoor or outdoor seating. There are also ice cream kiosks open in the warmer months.
