Stirling Castle

Esplanade
Stirling
Stirlingshire
FK8 1EJ

Towering over the city, Stirling Castle is amongst Scotland's most celebrated visitor attractions. For centuries kings and queens
held court here and it provided a home for many monarchs including the infant Mary Queen of Scots.

The castle's Royal Palace re-opens in June 2011 after a £12 million project returning it to its Renaissance glory. Visitors will be shown round the palace by costumed performers and can enjoy new exhibitions and interactive displays for all the family.

Visitors can also take in the magnificent Great Hall, Chapel Royal and Medieval Kitchens as well as the regimental museum of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.

Enjoying a Visit
The new visitor experience enables you to meet costumed characters from the past and hear their stories of intrigue from the royal court.

Explore the lavishly decorated rooms of the palace and discover the original Stirling Heads in our new gallery. Visit the exhibition which brings the castle's history to life. Families will particularly enjoy the interactive displays in the palace vaults.

Our specially designed Access Gallery in the palace vaults allows disabled visitors to experience areas within the castle which are inaccessible, including the first floor gallery in the palace.

We also have a courtesy vehicle for those who have difficulty with steep inclines.

Gifts & Refreshments
Our shops sell a wide range of gifts, souvenirs, tapestry products, books and whisky.

Unicorn Café provides
a delicious menu of traditional hot and cold food.

This property is in the care of Historic Scotland.
