Things to do in Dufftown, Moray
Host to the whisky festival and surrounded by seven hills, this small Banffshire town is regarded by many as Malt whisky capitol of the world. There are 7 distilleries in and around the town, with the Glenfiddich distillery being located on the outskirts of the town itself. While most distilleries offer excellent tours as part of the area's 'Whisky Trail', there is much more to Dufftown than whisky alone.
There is a wide range of sports facilities and other attractions in the area. This is 'Castle Country' and there are many fine examples to visit, such as Balvenie Castle and Auchindoun. The Lecht ski centre is a relatively short drive west, with Aviemore and the Cairngorms further so.
There's fine dining to be found - just the thing to fortify after activities like highland games, fishing on the Spey and walking up Ben Rinnes. The Ben affords delightful views, on a good day stretching all the way over to the black isle and beyond well. It's well worth a visit.
