Things to do in Maids Moreton, Buckinghamshire

Awaiting photographs of Maids Moreton

Maids Moreton, is a lovely Buckinghamshire Village.

There are no shops now, just The Old Post Office, (a private residence) and the pubs, 'The Wheatsheaf' in the village itself, and 'The Buckingham Arms' at Duck Lake, on the road into Buckingham town centre,(I understand that actress Jayne Mansfield once visited there).

There are allotments in the village, near to the church of St Edmund. A beautiful church and well worth a visit. In the church there is mention of the 'maids of Moreton', thought to have been Siamese twins. The church was built at their expense.

The old village school, on Main Street, is now a house, there is a plaque over the door, which lead to the rhyme, 'Holy Bible, key of the door, Eighteen hundred and fifty four'. Look for it when you visit.
