The village of Shipley, has views of the South Downs and the iron age Chanctonbury Ring camp. The church was built by the Knights Templar around 1125.
Shipley Windmill was built in 1879 and is the best example of a smock mill in Sussex. Bought by Hilaire Belloc, who lived in the village for 50 years, it is owned by his descendants. Please note, Shipley Windmill is closed to visitors indefinitely.
