Cornwall

Boscastle is an entrancing beauty spot, lying between the rivers Jordan and Valency. The riverfront is bordered by pretty thatched and lime-washed houses giving on to the north coast harbour, with its 16th century quay. Clinging to the hillside above the fast flowing water, are a group of 14th century cottages.

A walk tracing the valley of the Valency River, takes you to Boscastle's Church, parts of which date back to the Norman period.

Further up the valley is the Church of St. Juliot's, restoration was carried out on the Church by Thomas Hardy, when he was a young architect; it was here that Hardy met his first wife Emma.
