Eccleshall is also an old coaching centre - and it's easy to imagine yourself back in the days of horse-drawn travel in one of its original coaching inns. The main street is characterised by delightful 18th and 19th century buildings and appealing shops - the perfect place to while away an hour or two.
At Shallowford, near Eccleshall is the thatched, half-timbered cottage of Izaak Walton, author of 'The complete Angler'.
