Leicestershire

Mountsorrel is situated on the old A6 route, seven miles north of Leicester and four miles from Loughborough.

Dominated by a huge granite outcrop, which was used for the 'hard sets' which paved the streets of London. Mountsorrel's history goes back to pre-historic times with evidence of early settlement on Castle Hill, which was later used by the Norman's as a fortification point.

In 1292, three decades prior to Loughborough, Mountsorrel received a market charter and its butter market cross, erected in 1793, is still a prominent landmark.
